Till you love me too

Some day when our paths will cross, things mightn’t be same.
I’ll recount the days since we spilt, you’ll try to recall my name.
Seeing you chewing on your lip, I’ll hold my breath.
There might still be warmth in your heart, but for me no flame.
I’ll look away to a boring billboard for my heart will be full.
You might pretend to have forgotten us, but you’ll still feel the pull.
It’ll strum my heartstrings, make my hopes to sway.
You might smile at me, maybe not, but you’ll walk away.

So darling, let me love you till I have you.
Oh darling, let me love you till you love me too.

Let’s not assume things won’t change.
We shouldn’t take Time for granted for it’s a brutal thing.
What future really holds we can never know.
All we can do is love each other till we have this zing.
One day when we’ll look back, we’ll know what we missed.
Or we might turn so coldblooded we won’t even notice.
But it’ll be far too late, too intricate to right the wrongs.
Life is too short, love too precious to postpone.

So darling, let me love you till I have you.
Oh darling, let me love you till you love me too.

I enjoyed this poem. Open and vulnerable, telling truths about love, which can be strong and fragile in the same moment.
