I’m bored to death,
and you won’t stop playing games.
This is deadlier than the virus.
We talk ten times a day
in texts and memes and emojis.
This cellphone screen isn’t life.
We should be watching birds,
spending nights maybe in a camp mountain-side.
Gaze at the stars or chase fireflies.
All we do is share reels, and pretend it’s fine.
You say I’m not fun
when I complain that we don’t meet.
“Patience! Where I’m gonna go?”
That’s your defense? Oh please.
I need us in flesh and bones.
This simulation is killing me with boredom.
Do you not crave human interaction?
Have you lost your mind?
Jeez! I’m bored to death,
and you won’t plug yourself out.
This is deadlier than the virus.
We’d be pretty; we’d be ugly.
Who knows we might get into a fist fight?
But this is cellphone screen, not life.

Ha, some hard truth here! Well written!
Oh yeah, that line about talking in text and emojis really does make me feel like I’m being called out. Great post. Thanks for sharing! 👍
